Motorola releases Android Nougat update for Moto G4, Moto G4 Plus

To ensure that you get through an entire day without any worries, the incoming Android 7.0 Nougat update picks up from where Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow left with a new Doze on the go feature. The update comes with November Android Security Patch and brings about several changes to performance, notifications, usability etc.

Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus users in India should start seeing a notification for the update, which says "new system software is available!". Click on "Install now" and Android 7.0 Nougat will be installed to your smartphone.

Motorola has started rolling out a new OTA update based on Android 7.0 Nougat to the Moto Z. The latest update carries the build version NPL25.86-17-3 and weighs in at a rather hefty 540MB. Users can read a comprehensive description of all the new upgrades that the update consists of, on the company's official website.

You can now quickly switch between apps by simply double tapping.

Motorola began seeding the latest update only a few hours back, so it might take a few days for the OTA update to reach most global Moto Z units.

Before starting the update, users must make sure they are connected to a Wi-Fi network and that their smartphone's battery is fully charged.

If you haven't been notified on the update yet, you can manually check for it by heading to Settings / About phone / Update. In short, this feature lets you run two apps side by side in the same window, thus, replying to a WhatsApp message while watching a YouTube video will no longer be a problem. There were also those Motorola features, which included a Moto action for swiping to shrink the screen and using the fingerprint sensor to lock/unlock the screen, assuming you have the Moto G4 Plus.

Motorola had promised in October that it will roll out Android 7.0 Nougat for its smartphones by the end of this year.
