Legendary Socialite And Actress Zsa Zsa Gabor Dies At 99

He couldn't pronounce Zsa Zsa, so he called her Georgia from time to time. She had been on life support for the last five years and suffered a heart attack.

The fair-skinned blonde began her career in Vienna, Austria after she was crowned Miss Hungary in 1936.

She landed her Hollywood debut in 1952 with Lovely To Look At and the comedy We're Not Married! with Ginger Rogers, before scoring her big break with a starring role opposite Jose Ferrer in director John Huston's Moulin Rouge.

The great-aunt of Paris Hilton and a spiritual matriarch to the Kardashians and other tabloid favorites, she was the original hall-of-mirrors celebrity, famous for being famous for being famous.

"It's a must", Gabor wrote in the 1970 book How to Catch a Man, How to Keep a Man, How to Get Rid of a Man. "Because once you have been married, you are a Mrs., and even if the marriage doesn't work out, they can't take that away from you". "From Conrad Hilton, I learned how to be a good housekeeper and frugal". "I want a man who's kind and understanding", she once said. "Is that too much to ask of a millionaire?" she once said.

Her body lay in the morgue for days after her death: at first, there was nobody who cared enough to claim it.

In 1989, Gabor generated a media sensation when she was convicted of slapping a Beverly Hills policeman. She had two sisters.

Her last marriage, to Frederic Prinz von Anhalt in 1986, was her longest, despite the 26 year age gap, and survived until her death. "I still am", von Anhalt said in the October 2007 issue of Vanity Fair. "Most of her problems originated from that handsome mouth", he said.

The petite busty blonde brought a breath of fresh air to her guest roles in such iconic shows as "Mr. Ed", "Gilligan's Island", "Make Room for Daddy" and "Bonanza".

Years of complications followed and she eventually had to have her right leg amputated in 2011.

Just this past February, she was rushed to the hospital after having trouble breathing.

"A woman who tells her age tells everything, and I won't tell it". Her mother did it but she never did it.

Despite Zsa Zsa Gabor's film career, it was her personal life that definitely kept her in the spotlight. She made a place in Hollywood by spending decades as a socialite in California and appearing in more than 30 movies and TV shows.

Rest in peace, Zsa Zsa. "She didn't die alone".

"What is really important for a woman, you know, even more than being handsome or intelligent, is to be entertaining", Gabor once wrote.
